(resolved) newlaika server not responding for (Resolved)

[Resolved as of 12:20pm today]

This morning we've had some issues with the newlaika server.  It took a while to work through and find the issue, which in the end was an obscure problem fixed by a system update and a reboot.  Our guess is that an update may have failed partly and locked out some sites, and as time went on, more sites were affected.

Everything is running normally from approx 12:20pm.  As far as we could tell, email and other services were unaffected.

UPDATE: issue resolved, server rebooted and available

minka has some hardware related issues.  Expecting service to return within the next 30-60 minutes and our team is actively looking into the problem right now.

Server newlaika having web service issues (Resolved)

Newlaika has web service down.  We're actively working on it and expect to restore service within the hour, perhaps sooner.

9:30am update: web service restored. Looks like a modsec corrupted file appeared to be disabling the web server across all sites.  This is unusual and we've never seen this specific problem before.

lassie server reboot (Resolved)

We need to do a quick routine server restart at 10:15pm tonight in order to catch up with an important cPanel and o/s update.

We'd expect the server to be down for roughly 15 minutes and will update here if we encounter any unexpected problems.

Sydney servers network - lassie and newlaika (Resolved)

Update 8:55am: Servie has returned to normal.  We'll report here when we find out what caused it.

There is a datacentre-wide outage early this morning that affects out network connections to lassie and newlaika.

Under normal circumstances we'd expect to be back online by around 8:30am, but at this stage this is just an estimate.

k9 - Slow server speeds/crashes (Resolved)

Our k9 server is loading webpages very slowly and technicians are investigating.

As soon as we know more we'll update here.

UPDATE: 5pm - the server has crashed and has been in the process of restarting for some time, but we don't expect to have it available until around 6pm as it is completing intensive file system checks.
UPDATE: 5:40pm - server up and available
UPDATE: 7:50pm - we expect the server to be down most of the night while we investigate, will update as news is available.

rover move to new server (Resolved)

Update Saturday morning:

 - some sites were suspended due to cpanel having problems moving the password across.  These are up and running as on 7am.  Some sites will not have their cPanel password working until around midday, apologies for this, we're updating the old passwords across.

If you had mail.dogfrog5.net in your email settings we fixed that around 11am, so please try again and it should come good.

A few sites had problems with databases and we're gradually working through those.  Email to support@wd3.com.au will reach us.

If you are using webmail with a bookmark like "rover.ourservers.net.au" - change the "rover" to "lassie" and all will start working again.

As per our email, we are moving Rover to new hardware.

Your site will be down for a short period (eg 10 mins for small sites, more for larger sites) between the given hours tonight.

Minka server problems (Resolved)

Our US-based server minka crashed early this morning (around 7:30am) and we haven't yet been able to restart it.

rover (Resolved)

Our rover is experiencing intermittent slowness.  Ironically, this server is in the progress of being upgraded to new hardware and O/S.

If your site is impacted, please let us know as we can migrate you to the new server overnight ahead of time.

In the normal course of events, everyone will be moved off rover (onto lassie) by Saturday 25th March 2017.

The minka server is slow with large load queues, staff are investigating and restarting the server.
